Replace it when the pump smokes continuously, oil collects near the exhaust, exhaust pressure rises, or the separator has reached its service interval. Many industrial pumps need inspection around 3,000 to 4,000 operating hours.

Should I change oil when replacing the separator?

Yes. Dirty or degraded oil can quickly contaminate a new separator, so oil and separator replacement should usually be done together.

What to replace with it
